The tournament runs from 27 December 2018 – 4 January 2019 and gathers some of the world’s greatest minds from tertiary institutions across the globe. Universities and their respective debating unions send teams of speakers and adjudicators to battle in a British Parliamentary style against one another, all to discover who the true champion speakers and judges are.

The City of Cape Town is the most popular international travel destination in Africa and it’s not difficult to understand why. With world-renowned scenery, hospitality, cuisine and entertainment; the city is perfect for hosting the wonderfully diverse group of debaters.

The tournament would be hosted at the University of Cape Town, an internationally accredited institution for academics, research and debating. It is the best university in Africa and ranked at varying degrees of excellence on the world stage. The University offers fantastic and practical venues ideal for debating and event management. And when you’re not inside the ivy-walled buildings, you can enjoy the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain’s Devils Peak that extents above the universities main campus.
